Microdermabrasion is a mini procedure used to rejuvenate skin, lessen the signs of scaring, remove fine lines and the effects of acne. The top layer of dead skin is removed during treatment, while promoting the production of new cells in the deepest layer of skin. It stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen. It has proven to be a very popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedure.

The procedure involves spraying a fine jet of sand-like crystals onto the skin and using a controlled vacuum to sweep up the crystals and the top epidermal layer. As microdermabrasion brushes away the damaged cell layers, it also stimulates the skin's production of collagen and helps to maintain the elasticity of the skin.

The best aspect of microdermabrasion is that each treatment only lasts 30 minutes. In fact, it is so convenient that it is often referred to as the "lunchtime face lift." As well, microdermabrasion requires no anesthesia and is painless.

Microdermabrasion Benefits

Microdermabrasion can correct rough skin texture, some types of scarring, uneven pigmentation, and age (liver) spots. It can also remove or improve whiteheads and black heads, some stretch marks, and fine wrinkles.

By removing superficial layers of the skin, microdermabrasion allows new skin to appear. In fact, this procedure even stimulates the growth of new skin cells. Microdermabrasion can be used for all skin types and skin tones. For best results, it can be repeated every three weeks.
